School Archery Development Program

SADP program is a project of  Spider Archery and  We are giving training to the archers, participating the national tournament  and working on the development of Archery in Bangladesh. Our Club consists of  International level Coaches, Judges and national level  trainers  etc.  We are competing in the world level but our total recurve or compound archers  are very few. So we decided to increase the Basic level archers in Bangladesh with couple of specific Programs like

1. School  Archery Development Program (SADP)
2. Introducing  Archery Program  for University ( IAPU)
3. Community and Recreational Archery Development (CRAP)

Based on the SADP we would like to introduce  archery  to your School  and we are Interested  to  develop archers  so that they can participate in national or regional and in international level in the name of  your organization /Club/ School.

The Generation of new young kids today are more Urban and “City Kids” . They are more involved in computers , Video Games and TV. So we  started thinking how could we engage them in the sports , teach outdoor skills and encourage interest to other activities  besides study .Then it hit on the IDEA that was not new. Its old …..Its ARCHERY. It  can be commonly taught in the physical education classes, mostly students gravitated to it because it is new sports in Bangladesh, very  high graded  Elite sports as well. As a result we  have designed the program in such a way that students can learn archery . Archery is a fun and safe and offcourse it’s the first shooting sports we learn.

After much discussion with school administrators, teachers, coaches, Archery   Federation and other officials we are going to began a pilot program with a simple “Mission” : Promote the teaching of archery as a part of their sports to improve educational performance of students and encourage their participation in the shooting sports not only in domestic arena but also as a representative of Bangladesh  in International Archery.

Our  Plan  is to educate archery to  the sports teacher and providing them coaches courses. Besides, our mission is to develop atleast 20 national level archers from each school  and to involve 100 school by December . In a nutshell , Our mission is to introduce archery in 100 schools with 2000 national level junior archers  who can participate in national or international junior competition and we will do our best to teach them providing coaching and other  support . They will be leading our Country  participating in the international arena in future .

• Why Students should Come to archery

1. One of the Safest Sports
   Safety first! archery is safer than every school-offered ball sport, except bowling and table tennis
   
2. Year-Round, Indoors and Out door –
   It is played both in indoor and outdoor so all over the year it can be played
   
3. Engaging in archery is considered a Sunnah, a recommended practice in Islam, based on the teachings and actions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Prophet encouraged archery, recognizing its value for physical and mental well-being, as well as its role in preparing for defense. 

4. Mental Game Rather then Physical

Archery is a mental  game rather then physical strength like shooting . In Bangladesh there is a big prospect for this type of game and we already made some big shock to the world archery defeating some world class archer . As like shooting , chess and this type of game archery would be another  sports discipline where We need to prepare ourself from school level .

5. Scholarship

Students who can play archery and reach some specific scores  get many scholarship in the university level as well as from some manufacturing factory like Easton Archery, Hoyt Archery, Olympic  archery program,  from Archery Federation . So students earn cash or college scholarships at tournaments, archery can help meet their long-term goals.

• Our Approach to the school

Our  approach to the school is very simple . We want students to train up as a good archer. A student typically 10 years can start archery . As  there is less physical strength required and more mental concentration depend sports, we have potentials to develop archers from school level . Both boys and girls can play archery even as a recreational sports , parents or teachers are also invited  to learn and practice  it .

• Training proposal

Basic training will be provided  2 Days a week and 90 minutes a day .The total training course will be conducted for total 36 hours .  1.5 Hours X 2 Days a week X 12 Weeks = 36 hours .

Advance  Training  program will be conducted based on Basic  trainings . Archers who completed  the basic training courses can participate in the advance training course.

Advance Training will be conducted by Level-1 National Archery Coaches .It will be conducted as  21.5 Hours X 2 Days a week X 12 Weeks = 36 hours . course duration. 

• Archery Equipment

SADP  will be providing  the coaches . we recommend that the school  buy the equipment of their own. Schools are welcome to   apply for Equipments grants and installment payment system to the club based on some criteria.

• Financial involvement

As Archery sports is new in Bangladesh but has got a bright future , we have introduced 2 types of  Payment system for the school.

1. Archery  Equipment  Purchase by School

Initially, The School can buy  the  6  Archery Bow set , 36  Arrows, 2  Target Board with target paper  and others necessary equipment. With this equipment the school can participate to any archery tournament  in Bangladesh as a school  team  . The cost of package  is  Tk. 100,000 .

• Archery training  fee per student

We have another scheme that We  will provide  all the archery equipment required for a beginer archer. A coach will give the training 1.5 Hours X 2 Days a week X 12 Weeks = 36 hours .  course will be conducted as  basic course to start and will continue. The Archer would be able to shoot by this time and will be eligible to participate any tournament in Bangladesh. The fees will be applicable as belows :

Registration Fee  : Tk. 2000 / archer

Course  Fee          :  Tk. 2000 / 1 month
* Atleast   12 Students  needed to start the course

• Registration and Signing Agreement.

An agreement  will be signed with SPIDER ACADEMY so the school will be registering with the Archery development  program , we will be inviting the school/club for tournament and also free seminar will be organized . For  attending international tournament , it is necessary to keep in touch with us.
